Philosophy
"Schools should be treated like fortresses — with our most valuable assets inside. Technology should serve people with integrity, responsibility, and civility."
— Kelly Koutsavlis, Founder & CEO
A Note From Our Founder
Iron City Risk Tech was not built from a business plan. It was built from a belief — that the schools entrusting us with their data deserve a company that takes that trust as seriously as they take the safety of their students. Every decision we make, every line of code we write, every partnership we pursue flows from the principles on this page.
1
Integrity Above All
The school districts that work with Iron City Risk Tech will place enormous trust in us. They will share data about their buildings, their staff, their students, and their vulnerabilities. That trust is not a business transaction — it is a sacred responsibility.

We will never compromise the anonymity of district data. We will never use what we learn for any purpose other than helping that district become safer and better protected. When we make a commitment, we keep it. When we fall short, we say so.
Integrity is not a value we perform for clients. It is the standard we hold ourselves to when no one is watching.
2
Technology That Serves People
We believe technology is a tool, not an end. SchoolShield Pro exists to solve a real human problem — the data gap that leaves school districts exposed and undervalued by their insurers. We use engineering and artificial intelligence not to replace human judgment, but to inform it with better information.

We build with responsibility. We design with civility. We deploy with the full awareness that the people on the other side of our platform are educators, administrators, and community members — not data points.
Technology should make people more capable, more protected, and more confident — never more surveilled, more burdened, or more exposed.
3
Efficiency, Accuracy, and Accountability
We have no patience for processes that waste people's time or systems that produce unreliable results. The manual insurance audit process that SchoolShield Pro replaces is slow, expensive, and inaccurate — and the schools and carriers who rely on it deserve better.

We hold ourselves to the same standard. We move with purpose. We measure what matters. We deliver what we promise. When something goes wrong — and in any young company, things will go wrong — we own it, fix it, and learn from it without deflection.
Accountability is not about blame. It is about being the kind of company that people can count on when it matters most.
4
Schools Are Fortresses
Inside every school building in Pennsylvania are the most valuable assets any community possesses — its children. Every sensor we install, every report we generate, every risk we identify exists in service of one fundamental belief: every student deserves to learn in a building that is safe, healthy, and protected.

We do not build surveillance systems. We build safety systems. The difference matters deeply to us — and it shapes every product decision we make. Our Privacy Tunnel exists because we believe data about children and the people who serve them must be handled with the highest possible standard of care.
When a school district works with Iron City Risk Tech, they are not buying a software product. They are gaining a partner who believes in their mission as much as they do.
5
Our People Are Our Greatest Asset
We value the talent that chooses to build with us. Every person who contributes to Iron City Risk Tech — whether as a co-founder, an engineer, an advisor, or a partner — brings something irreplaceable to this mission. We do not take that contribution for granted.

We build a culture where people are heard, where their work is recognized, and where they are treated with the same respect we ask them to show our clients. A company that asks schools to trust it must first be worthy of the trust of its own people.
Great companies are not built by great founders. They are built by great teams who believe in what they are building together.
6
American Talent First
This pillar is personal. I watched my son — an engineer — struggle to find work because companies chose cheaper overseas labor over qualified Americans. That experience changed how I think about what it means to build a responsible company.

Iron City Risk Tech will never outsource talent to other countries simply because it costs less. We are committed to hiring local people and American citizens — not because it is required, but because it is right. Our community gave us our roots. Our city shaped who we are. We will invest back into both.

When we grow, we will grow here. When we hire, we will hire Americans. When we have the opportunity to give someone a chance — the way someone gave us a chance — we will take it.
Our community gave us our roots. We will invest back into it — one hire at a time.
Our Commitment
Iron City Risk Tech is a young company with a long mission. We will not always get everything right. But we will always return to these principles when we are uncertain, always choose integrity when it is inconvenient, and always remember that the schools relying on us have placed their trust — and their students' safety — in our hands.

That is not a responsibility we take lightly. It is the reason we exist.
